Pete Vogel is the proprietor of Nutmegger Workshop and the maker of killer signs. We’ve admired his work for the past several years, so it was an honor when he reached out to us this past Spring about a short process film.
Over the past summer, a few of us spent a great handful of days with Pete at his shop in the hills of SW Portland, talking type, technology, progress, and tricky balance of commerce and art. Between conversations we filmed his craft, save a few secrets that he keeps between him and God.
For the project (and to our benefit) he made us a massive Witherspoon & Sons banner, which now hangs on the third level, accompanied by vintage wallpaper, circa 1890. It is, not surprisingly, perfect.
